SKULLSHIFTER To Release Limited-Edition EP

May 16, 2005

SKULLSHIFTER, the new band featuring former INSANIAC members CJ Scioscia (guitar) and Tom Nolz (guitar, vocals),are continuing work on their debut album, "Inner Demons", for a late 2005/early 2006 release. Scioscia's latest update on the recording process reads as follows:

"After initially planning to self-produce and release a full SKULLSHIFTER album on our own, we chucked the idea and decided instead to shop our project around to a select group of record labels. We've chosen 3 songs — 'I, Punishment', 'Engines' and 'Here In Hell' — which will take the form of a fully packaged, limited-edition EP to spearhead the effort. Our mission is to get some A&R people interested in releasing the entire 'Inner Demons' album later in 2005/early 2006. The reason for all this is we feel that we can reach a whole lot more of you a hell of a lot quicker if we've got a label behind us, and since our primary goal has always been to get our stuff out to a world that is in serious need of our kind of metal, we think this is the best way to do it. This EP, titled 'Here In Hell', will also be distributed to magazines, fanzines, webzines, radio and internet radio stations, and of course, YOU!!!

"But this is only the beginning...

"The really BIG news is that acclaimed producer Simon Efemey is in the process of mixing our EP at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England!!! Simon's been one of our favourite producers ever since hearing his work with CANCER on their 1995 album 'The Sins of Mankind'. He's also produced PARADISE LOST, THE WILDHEARTS, AMORPHIS and, of course, the mighty NAPALM DEATH!! Simon got the ball rolling this past week with a day or so of set-up, and he'll finish up on the 18th & 19th after returning from mixing a weekend full of ND gigs on the continent.

"Once the mixes are back from across-the-pond we will schedule a mastering session, after which we can give some serious thought to a release date (pencil in mid-July on your calendars at this point).

"So what about the rest of the album that we've already recorded? Actually, there is very little left to do on the remaining 7 songs. A couple of lead breaks...a few fills...plus tracking some shredding by the special guest performer we hinted about last time. No, we won't tell you who it is yet, but we promise he's a mighty man of metal to say the least! You will not be disappointed!"
